JACKIE BOHNI - PET STYLIST/OWNER

I have been working in the grooming industry since 1987. I began my career working with a variety of breeds of dog at Rocky Glen Kennels. It was here where I developed my passion for working with animals. I was mentored by many talented people and quickly developed my skillset.

My love for dogs and cats has always been strong. My passion, dedication and love for new industry knowledge prompted me to open 4 Paws Grooming Ltd in 1991.

I have owned various dogs and worked with a number of breeds throughout the years, and have developed a particular fondness for Golden Retrievers and Bernese Mountain dogs.

I continue to educate myself and further my knowledge, acquiring certificates, attending seminars and improving my skills and knowledge of the latest techniques and equipment.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my fur babies Annabelle and Wilber (both Golden Retrievers) and Dewey my ragdoll cat, and of course, my human family. I also love heading to BC to enjoy lake time which includes swimming and dock diving with the dogs. When I have extra time, I volunteer with the PALS program which enhances the lives of people through pet therapy.

CHRISTIE – PET STYLIST

Hi my name is Christie! I have been working at 4 Paws since October 2007. I've always wanted to work with animals and originally wanted to study equine sciences and become an equine vet until I discovered my love for grooming. My favorite part of the job is making dogs feel good! I love the connection I have made with the dogs and love it when my dogs are excited to get up on the table for me to work on them.

I love herding dogs, specifically Australian cattle dogs, and have one of my own whose name is Turbo. I also have a little girl named Scarlett who shares my passion for dogs and loves coming in for visits at the shop. When I am not at the shop, I am with my fiancé and daughter, walking through Bowness Park at Butterfield Acres, working on DIY projects, or gardening.

GILLIAN – PET STYLIST

Gillian has been with 4 paws since January of 2008 and has learned to groom through an on-site apprenticeship. Learning the basics of how to handle, bathe and properly brush out dogs, she progressed to the art of grooming. After some time spent away (the result of a shoulder injury) she continued to groom on a part-time basis while working in other industries. Eventually, she returned full-time to pursue her passion. Gillian continues to upgrade her skillset, attending seminars whenever possible to better serve her furry clients and their owners.

Originally from Newfoundland, Gillian moved to Calgary at the age of 10 with her family. She now lovingly calls the mountains her home. In her free time, she enjoys doing art, learning new cooking recipes, spending time with her family and friends, and of course, taking her pup Enya on adventures.

SZILVIA – PET STYLIST

Szilvia has had an interest and love for dogs since she was very young. She moved to Calgary from Hungary back in 2015. Before moving, she had many years of experience working with all kinds of canines. She possesses 20 years of work experience training guide dogs for the blind and teaching private behaviour correction and obedience courses for dog owners and their pets. She has also trained defense and search dogs for the police and prison guard force.

Upon her arrival in Canada, she began searching for any opportunity to pursue a career in which she could express her love for mans’ best friend. It didn’t take her long to form a new group of Canadian friends seeking help with their disobedient dogs. She has helped many improve the behavior of their pets, all of whom were more than satisfied with her results.

In her spare time Szilvia enjoys working with her rescue pet, Seamus, on improving his behaviour to grant him a complete rehabilitation. She also likes going on hikes with her favourite furry friend, and her family (not as furry). Szilvia also lives an active life as a regular Ashtanga yoga practitioner.

Szilvia’s precision, reliability, and extraordinary work ethic, along with her light-hearted and joking personality, make her a productive and fun member of the work environment here at Four Paws Grooming.
